Parents - Shredding safety
Shredding paperwork that contains important personal information is a great way to reduce your risk for identity theft. However, it can be potentially dangerous.

BEFORE you operate your shredder, be sure to read the instruction manual and pay close attention to the warnings and cautions outlined.

Here are some tips on playing it safe.

  • NEVER put your hand or fingers near the shredder's opening.
  • Keep children and pets away at all times. Letting a child operate a shredder is never a good idea.
  • Keep all loose clothing and objects away from the shredder's opening. This includes neckties, shirttails, jewelry and long hair.
