Not all mail is junk mail. Remember, always ask your parents first before recycling a piece of junk mail. Something that seems like "junk" to you could be very important to them!
Here are some of the things that come in the mail that you CAN recycle:
- Bills and bill inserts
- Coupons
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Stationery
- Paper envelopes
- Computer printer paper
- Shredded office paper
Here are some of the things that come in the mail that you CANNOT recycle:
- Plastic bags or wrapping
- Bubble wrap
- Books of any kind
- Products or samples sent through the mail
- Greeting cards
- Gift wrap
- Overnight Express (Tyvek) envelopes
- Soap boxes
Of course, you can also recycle things other than junk mail, such as:
- Newspapers
- Juice boxes and milk cartons
- Corrugated cardboard
- Glass, aluminum, steel and plastic cans, jars, bottles and food trays
Don't forget to rinse out all cans and cartons before putting them in your recycling bin. And remember to redeem deposit bottles and cans for money!
